A commemorative issue with an expressive design — a collector’s highlight and a fitting gift. The details of the obverse and reverse carry the story of "The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine": dedicated to the special-purpose law enforcement body charged with ensuring the inviolability of the state border and protecting Ukraine’s sovereign rights. A fitting gift and a warm accent for any collection.

## Description

This commemorative coin conveys the idea of the issue through symbols, relief and an expressive composition that is a pleasure to examine. The subject and design details underscore the theme: dedicated to the special-purpose law enforcement body charged with ensuring the inviolability of the state border and protecting Ukraine’s sovereign rights in its contiguous zone and exclusive (maritime) economic zone. The coin belongs to the "Armed Forces of Ukraine" series.

#### Obverse

The obverse is built as a coherent stage design, where state emblems are combined with the departmental symbolism of the issue’s theme. At the top is the Small State Coat of Arms of Ukraine, beneath which is the inscription UKRAINE; in the center is the emblem of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine; below are the inscriptions 10 / HRYVNIAS / 2020; flanking them are stylized branches: laurel (on the right) and guelder-rose (kalyna, on the left). The logo of the Banknote and Coin Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine is placed at the lower left. Careful relief and balanced fields lend the piece collector-grade expressiveness. The state emblem sets an official tone within the composition and balances the elements. The hallmark of the NBU Banknote and Coin Mint emphasizes the official origin of the issue.

#### Reverse

The reverse reveals the main image of the issue in expressive relief and a layered composition. At the top are the inscriptions STATE / BORDER GUARD / SERVICE OF UKRAINE, beneath which is an outline of a map of Ukraine; below is a symbolic border marker, and to the right and left are compositions symbolizing the activities of the State Border Guard Service in the air, on land and at sea. Careful relief and balanced fields lend the piece collector-grade expressiveness. In the texture of the field, relief transitions are visible: from fine strokes to deeper plateaus that beautifully catch the light as the coin is turned.

#### Historical context

The coin’s subject is tied to an event or image important to Ukrainian memory. One of the duties of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine is to participate in cooperation with the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other components of the defense forces; the coin was put into circulation on 19 November 2020 as part of the "Armed Forces of Ukraine" series. Such issues become little "time capsules": they preserve the emotion of the moment, a cultural marker and recognizable symbolism for future generations. A fitting gift and a warm accent for any collection. It fits a collection well and looks festive in a case.
