In the lower part, there are two oppositely directed intertwined arrows, symbolizing the Customs Agreement between Andorra and the EU. On the arrows are the years "1990" and "2015" (the latter is also the year of issue of the coin), as well as the name of the issuing country "ANDORRA". Around the map of Andorra is the inscription "25è aniversari de la Signatura de l'Acord Duaner amb la Unió Europea" (25th anniversary of the signing of the Customs Agreement with the European Union) in Catalan. On the outer ring are the 12 stars of the European Union.

Reverse

The reverse is the common side of the 2 euro coins of the second type, designed by Luc Luix. A map of Europe without internal borders, on the left is the denomination "2" and the inscription "EURO", on the right is a map of the continent. On the outer ring are the 12 stars of the EU. A ribbed band with the inscription "2 ★ ★" repeated six times alternately in the forward and reverse positions.

Historical context

The Customs Agreement between the Principality of Andorra and the European Economic Community was signed on 28 June 1990 and entered into force on 1 July 1991. The agreement established a customs union between Andorra and the EU for industrial goods (Chapters 25–97 of the Harmonized System) and a preferential treatment for agricultural products. This agreement was Andorra's first official agreement with the EEC and was of great importance for a small state that geographically borders only France and Spain, both EU countries. The agreement allowed goods manufactured in Andorra to move freely within the EU market without additional customs duties.
