Historical context
The 2019 FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup Final took place in the Principality of Andorra from 11 to 17 March 2019 on the slopes of the Grandvalira resort, the largest ski resort in the southern Pyrenees. It was the first time that Andorra had hosted one of the world's most prestigious alpine skiing competitions. The final featured the 25 best skiers in the world, competing in the slalom, giant slalom, super-G and downhill disciplines - both men and women. The event was revolutionary for the country, establishing its status as a leading sports destination and highlighting the role of ski tourism in the Andorran economy.
