The 2 euro coin was issued by Finland in 2014 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Tove Jansson (1914–2001), an outstanding Finnish-Swedish artist and writer, author of the Moomin books that have gained worldwide love.
Obverse

Reverse
The reverse shows a portrait of Tove Jansson and the silhouette of Moomin, the most recognizable character in her work. Historical context
Tove Jansson was born on August 9, 1914 in Helsinki. The first Moomin book was published in 1945. The series includes nine novels and numerous comics, translated into over 50 languages. Jansson has received numerous awards, including the Hans Christian Andersen Medal. The Moomin universe remains a cultural phenomenon in Finland and Japan.
