A common 2-euro coin minted by all eurozone countries in 2022 to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Erasmus programme. Since 1987, the programme has supported the academic mobility of millions of students and teachers across Europe.
Obverse
The standard obverse of the 2-euro coins features the EU map, the 12 stars of the European Union, the Vantaa mint mark and the year 2022. The Finnish version follows the pan-European design.

The reverse features the stylised "E" of the Erasmus programme, symbolising student exchange and mobility. The inscriptions "ERASMUS" and "1987–2022" mark the 35th anniversary. The outer ring features the 12 stars of the EU and the designation of the issuing country.
Historical context
The Erasmus program (now Erasmus+) was launched in 1987 to support student exchanges between EU universities. Over 35 years, more than 12 million students and young people have benefited from it. The program promotes language skills, cultural understanding and the formation of a common European identity. The budget for 2021–2027 is €26.2 billion.
