The 2 euro coin was minted by France in 2018 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Armistice of Compiègne on 11 November 1918, which ended World War I. France suffered the highest losses among the Allies — over 1.4 million dead.
Obverse
The French obverse features the image of Marianne, the inscription "RF" and the mark of the Paris Mint. The year of minting is 2018.
Reverse
The reverse depicts the Arc de Triomphe in Paris — a symbol of French heroism and sacrifice — with the inscriptions "11 NOVEMBRE 1918" and "100ème ANNIVERSAIRE." On the ring - 12 EU stars.

On November 11, 1918, at 11:00, an armistice was signed between the Allies and Germany on the Compiègne wagon. World War I lasted 4 years and 3 months, claiming more than 20 million lives. France was the main theater of hostilities: the battles of the Marne, Verdun, and the Somme became symbols of sacrifice. Every year on November 11, all of France celebrates Remembrance Day.
