The 2 euro coin was minted by France in 2024 for the XXXIII Olympic Games (July 26 - August 11) and XVII Paralympic Games (August 28 - September 8) in Paris. It is the final coin of the "Paris 2024" Olympic series.
Obverse
The French obverse features the image of Marianne, the inscription "RF" and the Paris Mint mark. The year of minting is 2024.
Reverse
The reverse features the Eiffel Tower with the Olympic rings and the inscription "PARIS 2024 - TOUR EIFFEL". The outer ring features the 12 stars of the EU and the year "2024".
Historical context
The Paris 2024 Olympic Games were the third Summer Olympics for the French capital. The opening ceremony was held on the Seine. Over 10,000 athletes from over 200 NOCs competed in 32 sports across 35 venues.
