The commemorative coin conveys the idea of the issue through symbols, relief and expressive composition, which is pleasant to look at. The plot and details of the design emphasize the theme: it is dedicated to a military and political figure, a personality who symbolizes the heritage of the Ukrainian national liberation struggle, Yevhen Mykhailovych Konovalets.
Obverse
On the obverse, the composition is readable at first glance: the official attributes of the state and the details of the plot work as a single whole. In the center, on the mirror surface, there is a faleristic monument from the times of the liberation struggles in the form of a monogram of two letters “S” intertwined with a branch of red viburnum, a military insignia “Strilets’ Council” of the collegium of the commander of the Sich Riflemen Yevhen Konovalets in 1918-1919, on the right side of which are the words of Yevhen Konovalets: …WE WILL/ HAVE STRENGTH,/ THEN WE WILL COME OUT/ VICTORIOUSLY/ FROM THE WORST/ ADVERSITY/ AND WE WILL OBTAIN/ EVERYTHING WE/ NEED and its facsimile below: the denomination of the coin – 2 UAH and the year of minting the coin – 2021, the mark of the Banknote and Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine (on the left side of the military insignia). The obverse of the coin is notable: against the background of a viburnum branch that frames the coin on the left side, there is a small State Emblem of Ukraine (in the upper part), on the right side of which is the inscription UKRAINE. The careful relief and balance of the fields add to the product a collector's expressiveness. The state emblem in the composition sets the official tone and balances the decorative elements. The company emblem of the NBU Banknote and Mint emphasizes the official origin of the issue.
Reverse
The reverse is dominated by a thematic motif, complemented by inscriptions and details that emphasize the idea of the issue. On the right side, the inscriptions: EVHEN KONOVALETS (in an arc), years of life 1891 - 1938 (below). The reverse of the coin shows a stylized portrait of Yevhen Konovalets on a mirror surface, on the left side of which is the inscription OUN and a stylized trident with a sword. The careful relief and balance of the fields add to the product a collectible expressiveness. The state emblem in the composition sets the official tone and balances the decorative elements. The texture of the field shows noticeable relief transitions: from thin strokes to deeper areas that beautifully catch the light when the coin is turned.
Historical context
The plot of the coin is tied to an event or image that is important for Ukrainian memory. Such issues become small "time capsules": they preserve the emotion of the moment, a cultural sign and recognizable symbolism for future generations.
