The coin is dedicated to a figure whose work has become a part of Ukrainian culture and a recognizable sign of the era. The plot and design details emphasize the theme: dedicated to one of the most popular Ukrainian poets-humorists, Honored Artist of Ukraine, laureate of the Ostap Vyshnya Prize (1988), the first laureate of the Petro Sahaidachny Prize (1996).
Overse
The obverse presents the theme through a combination of state symbols, inscriptions and a finely thought-out relief. In the center of the composition: against the background of a stylized open book - a rocking chair, over which the muse of the artist (poet-satirist) flies, on the right side - theatrical masks, symbolizing the theater of life, in which the poet exposes and ridicules negative phenomena, the sign of the Banknote and Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine (bottom right side), below in an arc the denomination of the coin - 2 UAH. On the obverse of the coin, the mirror surface shows: in the upper part, the inscription UKRAINE (in an arc), on the right side of which is the small State Emblem of Ukraine and the year of minting the coin 2022. The portrait relief and decorative elements act as a calling card of the era and talent of the coin's hero. The state emblem in the composition sets the official tone and balances the decorative elements. The corporate emblem of the NBU Banknote and Mint emphasizes the official origin of the issue.
Reverse
The reverse is the central story of the coin: the symbols are arranged so that the plot "comes alive" under different angles of light. The reverse of the coin shows: against the background of a stylized open book in a cartoon style – a portrait of a poet-humorist, around which are the inscriptions: SMILES (vertically on the left side), FAIRY TALES (vertically on the right side), HUMORESKI (under the portrait) below the inscriptions: 1922 2004 (years of the poet's life) PAVLO GLAZOVY (in an arc) on the left side and on the right side on the mirror surface – images of the heroes of his humoreski. The portrait relief and decorative elements act as a calling card of the era and talent of the hero of the coin. In the texture of the field, relief transitions are noticeable: from thin strokes to deeper areas that beautifully catch the light when the coin is turned.
Historical context
Pavlo Glazovy is a master of benevolent humor, who knew how to talk about complex things simply and wittily. His smiles and fables supported people, preserved the living language and folk wisdom, transforming laughter into the quiet power of daily optimism. It will be an appropriate gift and a warm accent to the collection. It fits well with the collection and looks festive in the case.
