The coin is dedicated to a figure whose work has become a part of Ukrainian culture and a recognizable sign of the era. The plot and details of the design emphasize the theme: dedicated to one of the most prominent figures in Ukrainian history and culture - Olena Pchilka. Olga Petrivna Kosach (this was her real name) was a legendary poet, translator, scientist, folklorist, ethnographer, publisher and active public figure.
Overse
The obverse presents the theme through a combination of state symbols, inscriptions and finely crafted relief. This is not just a detail, but a symbol of the writer's six children, raised in the spirit of Ukrainian traditions. On the right side, between the stylized pots, the sign of the Banknote and Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine is noticeable, and in the lower part of the coin, the inscription UKRAINE is engraved, the denomination 2 with the graphic symbol of the hryvnia, the small State Emblem of Ukraine and the year of minting - 20 / 24. Their arrangement resembles the merlons of a defensive wall, emphasizing the unshakable "fortress of Ukrainian identity", which has resisted hostile influences for centuries. On the obverse of the coin, a stylized composition is noticeable, symbolizing the pedagogical and educational activities of Olena Pchilka. In the center of the composition are six flower pots stylized as elements of the Hadyatsky ornament. The portrait relief and decorative elements act as a calling card of the era and the talent of the hero of the coin. The state emblem in the composition sets the official tone and balances the decorative elements. The trademark of the NBU Banknote and Mint emphasizes the official origin of the issue.
Reverse
The reverse is dominated by a thematic motif, complemented by inscriptions and details that emphasize the idea of the issue. The reverse of the coin shows a stylized portrait of Olena Pchilka on a mirror surface. The image of a woman on a background, the outlines of which resemble a crown, impresses with her deep, wise and determined gaze. It seems to penetrate time, reminding of the eternal significance of her works. On the left side and on the right side of the portrait, the inscriptions OLENA PCHILKA and OLGA KOSACH are visible, and below in an arc - “QUEEN-MOTHER”, because that is how Lesya Ukrainka lovingly called her mother. The years of the poetess's life 1849 / 1930 complete the composition of the reverse. The portrait relief and decorative elements act as a calling card of the era and talent of the coin's hero. The texture of the field shows noticeable relief transitions: from thin strokes to deeper areas that beautifully catch the light when the coin is turned.
