The coin reminds of the ability of nature to be reborn and of the fragile beauty that is important to protect. The plot and details of the design emphasize the theme: the commemorative coin is dedicated to the brown bear. The Chernobyl Radiation and Ecological Biosphere Reserve is a unique object of the Nature Reserve Fund of Ukraine.
Obverse
The obverse presents the theme through a combination of state symbols, inscriptions and finely crafted relief. The sign of the Banknote and Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine (in the upper part) in the center is a symbolic wheel of life, marking the revival of nature: a stylized international sign “Radiation Threat”, wrapped in leaves, around which animals whose populations develop in the 30-kilometer exclusion zone, which has become a kind of reserve for reproduction, in particular black storks, Przewalski's horse, lynx, bison, elk, brown bear in a circle, on the mirror surface the inscriptions: CHORNOBYL RADIATION AND ECOLOGICAL BIOSPHERE RESERVE (on the left side), CHORNOBYL RADIATION AND ECOLOGICAL BIOSPHERE RESERVE coin denomination – 5/HRYVENJ (on the right side of the coat of arms) obverse of the coin is noticeable: small State Coat of Arms of Ukraine (in the upper part), inscriptions: UKRAINE (under the coat of arms) year mintage – 2022 (bottom). The natural motif is written softly and carefully: small details create a feeling of living touch to the landscape. The state emblem in the composition sets the official tone and balances the decorative elements. The company emblem of the NBU Banknote and Mint emphasizes the official origin of the issue.
Reverse
The reverse is the central story of the coin: the symbols are arranged so that the plot “comes to life” under different angles of light. The reverse of the coin shows a brown bear against the background of the landscape (pad printing was used), above which on the mirror surface are the inscriptions: BEAR/BROWN/URSUS ARCTOS in the upper part – a bear and a bear cub. The natural motif is written softly and carefully: small details create a feeling of living touch to the landscape. The texture of the field shows noticeable relief transitions: from thin strokes to deeper areas that catch the light beautifully when the coin is turned.
