The commemorative coin conveys the idea of the issue through symbols, relief and expressive composition, which is a pleasure to look at. The plot and details of the design emphasize the theme: it is dedicated to Ukrainian energy workers who not only provide the country with electricity, despite threats to life and health, despite enemy missiles and drones, but also did and continue to do the impossible every day and every night - restore the energy infrastructure of our country, return electricity and heat to the homes of Ukrainians, giving us the opportunity to live and work for Victory.
Obverse
The obverse presents the theme through a combination of state symbols, inscriptions and finely thought-out relief. The edge of the coin is smooth, with inverted, indented inscriptions: the denomination of the coin – FIVE HRYVYN, the year of minting the coin – 2023 and the sign of the Banknote and Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine. Each petal of this symbolic sunflower, like a lantern, illuminates our country with light. On the obverse of the coin, on the mirror surface, a stylized composition is noticeable, symbolizing the energy system of Ukraine. Despite all the directed enemy missile attacks and the enemy’s desire to sow darkness, this sunflower will shine. On both sides of the sunflower, the inscription UKRAINE (on the left side) and the small State Emblem of Ukraine (on the right side). Symbolically, the sunflower inflorescence also personifies the sunrise, which will surely come after the most terrible night. The careful relief and balance of the fields add to the product a collector’s expressiveness. The state emblem in the composition sets the official tone and balances the decorative elements. The corporate emblem of the NBU Banknote and Mint emphasizes the official origin of the issue.
Reverse
The reverse is the central story of the coin: the symbols are arranged so that the plot “comes to life” under different angles of light. On the reverse of the coin, in the form of unbreakable and shining blocks, a noticeably stylized trident is depicted, which, when the coin is rotated, transforms into the letter “E” and is the first letter of the words “energy”, “energetics”. The composition is dedicated to energy workers – our “warriors of light”, who work tirelessly and selflessly, returning light and holding the energy front of Ukraine. The careful relief and balance of the fields add to the product a collectible expressiveness. The state emblem in the composition sets the official tone and balances the decorative elements. The texture of the field shows noticeable relief transitions: from thin strokes to deeper areas that catch the light beautifully when the coin is turned.
Historical context
The plot of the coin is tied to an event or image that is important for Ukrainian memory. Such issues become small "time capsules": they preserve the emotion of the moment, a cultural sign, and recognizable symbolism for future generations.
