The coin captures the historical step of Ukraine's European path and preserves it in metal as a sign of hope. The plot and design details emphasize the theme: the commemorative coin is dedicated to the workers of the Ukrainian railway transport, who are deservedly called "iron" people.
Overse
On the obverse, the composition is readable at first glance: the official attributes of the state and the details of the plot work as a single whole. The inscription UKRAINE (on the left side) on the obverse of the coin is a noticeably stylized trident, the contours of which are outlined by the image of railway tracks. In the center on the mirror surface is the sign of the Banknote and Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine, the year of minting of the coin 20 / 23 in the upper part is the small State Emblem of Ukraine, the coin's denomination 5 and the graphic sign of the hryvnia. European symbolism is delicately integrated, and the plot conveys a sense of a historical step and hope. Reverse
The reverse side reveals the main image of the issue in expressive relief and multi-layered composition. The reverse of the coin shows a train, stylized as the Ukrzaliznytsia emblem, breaking out of the environment, in the upper part the inscription THANKS TO THE RAILWAY WORKERS! The reverse motif illustrates the real events of the beginning of the full-scale invasion, when on the border of the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions, Ukrainian railway workers, risking their own lives, saved people on both sides of the train - a symbolic composition containing sharp points aimed at it. Following and across the train, the aggressor's tanks tried to stop the evacuation of civilians. Historical context
On June 23, 2022, the European Council granted Ukraine the status of a candidate country for accession to the EU - a decision that fixed the long-term course of European integration. The event became a sign of solidarity and faith in the future of Ukraine, and the symbolism of Europe on the coin emphasizes the idea of "returning home" to a common space of values.
