A coin about modern Ukraine — responsible, technological, and open to changes that improve life. The plot and design details emphasize the theme: dedicated to the centenary of the first Ukrainian radio broadcaster, which has been operating continuously since 1924. “Ukrainian Radio” is the oldest radio in the country, an important strategic broadcaster, and a platform for uniting Ukrainians.
Obverse
The obverse is built as a holistic scenography, where state symbols are combined with images of the issue theme. This element also depicts a stylized fragment of the contact line and the spread of radio waves over the occupied territories, symbolizing the importance of Ukrainian Radio in defending national identity and countering hostile propaganda. The inscription UKRAINE is located at the top, on the left side – the denomination 5 with the graphic symbol of the hryvnia (horizontally), the year of minting – 2024 (vertically), below – the sign of the Banknote and Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine. On the obverse of the coin, in the center of the composition, there is a small State Emblem of Ukraine, around which the phrase KYIV SPEAKS is repeated many times, which emphasizes the historical and modern role of Kyiv as a center of communication. The composition is modern and concise: graphics and symbols emphasize the idea of development and responsibility. The state emblem in the composition sets the official tone and balances the decorative elements. The brand name of the NBU Mint emphasizes the official origin of the issue.
Reverse
The reverse side reveals the main image of the issue in expressive relief and multi-layered composition. Under the composition, the inscription UKRAINIAN / RADIO 1924 is noticeable, which means the year of the founding of the largest radio network in Ukraine. This letter is depicted in the form of a kind of mast, symbolizing the identification of Ukrainian Radio. The reverse of the coin shows a stylized depiction of the propagation of radio waves, the source of which is the dot above the letter “i” in the word “radio”. The composition is modern and concise: graphics and symbols emphasize the idea of development and responsibility. The texture of the field shows noticeable relief transitions: from thin strokes to deeper areas that catch the light beautifully when the coin is turned.
