A coin about humanity and mutual support - that in the most difficult times, unity saves and heals. The plot and design details emphasize the theme: the commemorative coin is dedicated to a noble cause that demonstrates the highest humanity in order to help others - blood donation.
Overse
The obverse is built as a holistic scenography, where state symbols are combined with images of the issue theme. This image is evidence of a noble common goal - to save lives - the inscription UKRAINE (below the composition), the denomination 5 and the graphic symbol of the hryvnia (below on the right side), the year of minting - 20/24 (below on the left side of the figures), as well as the sign of the Banknote and Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine (on the right side between the figures). Stylized drops of blood move from each figure to the center of the circle, symbolizing the personal contribution to the donation of each caring person. In the upper part, in the center, there is a noticeably small State Emblem of Ukraine. On the obverse of the coin, in the center of the composition, a volumetric drop of blood is shown, surrounded by schematic figures of people connected by handshakes. Images of unification and mutual support are read immediately, leaving a feeling of warmth and involvement. The state emblem in the composition sets the official tone and balances the decorative elements. The corporate emblem of the NBU Banknote and Mint emphasizes the official origin of the issue.
Reverse
The reverse is dominated by a thematic motif, complemented by inscriptions and details that emphasize the idea of the issue. On the reverse of the coin, on the mirror surface on the right side, there is the inscription LIFE, stylized as a blood transfusion system with a needle. This element symbolizes the process of blood supply to the vessels depicted at the bottom on the left side. The stylized drop and the inscription “life” harmoniously combine into the name of the coin – “Drop of Life”. The texture of the matte background, on which all these elements are placed, symbolizes the great need for donation in wartime. Images of unity and mutual support are read immediately, leaving a feeling of warmth and involvement. The texture of the field shows noticeable relief transitions: from thin strokes to deeper areas that beautifully catch the light when the coin is turned.
Historical context
Blood donation is one of the most practical forms of humanity: one donation can help several people at once. In times of war, the need increases, and each “drop” becomes a gesture of support for strangers, but close in spirit, people - this is how a community of care is formed. It will become an appropriate gift and a warm accent of the collection.
