The coin honors the power of defense and the people thanks to whom the country is held together, in a restrained and very expressive manner. The plot and details of the design emphasize the theme: “Ukrainian cotton. Neptune”, dedicated to the Ukrainian coastal missile complex RK-360МЦ “Neptune”, which became a real breakthrough for the domestic defense industry.
Obverse
The obverse presents the theme through a combination of state symbols, inscriptions and a finely thought-out relief. The scar of the ship shows the outline of the Kremlin tower with the battlements of the Kremlin wall that broke, symbolizing the collapse of Russia's imperial ambitions. At the bottom on the left side is the sign of the Banknote and Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine. In the upper part on the left side on the mirror surface – the denomination of the coin 5 and the graphic sign of the hryvnia, the year of minting of the coin 2024 (vertically), the small State Emblem of Ukraine and the inscription UKRAINE (vertically). The obverse of the coin shows a stylized missile cruiser “Moskva” with a hole in the hull, sunk thanks to the skill of our military by anti-ship missiles R-360 “Neptune”. “Invulnerable” flagship of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation is stylized as a children's paper boat, which especially emphasizes this myth, despite its real dimensions and armament. The plasticity of the lines and strict inscriptions give the design a sense of composure, and the plot sounds like a sign of gratitude and strength. The state emblem in the composition sets the official tone and balances the decorative elements. The trademark of the NBU Banknote and Mint emphasizes the official origin of the issue.
Reverse
The reverse is dominated by a thematic motif, complemented by inscriptions and details that emphasize the idea of the issue. The mirror background reflects the stylized trident of Neptune, the god of the seas, symbolizing the indomitability of the Ukrainian spirit, which accurately pierces enemy targets. The reverse of the coin shows the coastal mobile missile system “Neptune” at the moment of launching a missile, adopted by the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as evidenced by the emblem at the top on the left side. On the right side, in the upper part, parallel to the missile, the inscription NEPTUNE is visible. The plasticity of the lines and strict inscriptions give the design a sense of composure, and the plot sounds like a sign of gratitude and strength. The state emblem in the composition sets the official tone and balances the decorative elements. The texture of the field shows noticeable relief transitions: from thin strokes to deeper areas that catch the light beautifully when the coin is turned.
Historical context
The coastal missile system RK‑360МЦ "Neptune" has become one of the symbols of the technological capabilities of Ukrainian defense. Its use in 2022 changed the perception of the Ukrainian naval confrontation and entered modern history as an example of precision, engineering thought and determination. It will become an appropriate gift and a warm accent of the collection.
