The commemorative coin conveys the idea of the issue through symbols, relief and expressive composition, which is pleasant to look at. The plot and details of the design emphasize the theme: it is dedicated to the traditional pottery art that was formed in the village of Opishnya in the Poltava region and dates back to the 17th century. Opishnya ceramics have become a landmark phenomenon of Ukrainian culture.
Obverse
On the obverse, the composition is readable at first glance: the official attributes of the state and the details of the plot work as a single whole. On the right side – the small State Emblem of Ukraine, the year of minting 2025, the inscription UKRAINE, the denomination 5 and the graphic sign of the hryvnia, as well as the sign of the Banknote and Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine. On both sides of the sculpture, fragments of the characteristic adhesive decor of the zoomorphic sculpture are noticeable. The obverse of the coin shows a zoomorphic sculpture “Lion” by Vasyl Omelyanenko in the center of the composition (decorative element – color printing). The careful relief and balance of the fields add to the product a collector’s expressiveness. The state emblem in the composition sets the official tone and balances the decorative elements. The company emblem of the NBU Banknote and Mint emphasizes the official origin of the issue.
Reverse
The reverse is the central story of the coin: the symbols are arranged so that the plot “comes to life” under different angles of light. The reverse of the coin presents a stylized composition formed from elements of the traditional ornamental decor of Opishnya clay products, in particular plates – real pearls of Ukrainian folk art, which seem to go beyond one of them. In the upper part of the coin there is the inscription OPISHNYANSKA KERAMIKA. The careful relief and balance of the fields add to the product a collector’s expressiveness. The texture of the field shows noticeable relief transitions: from thin strokes to deeper areas that catch the light beautifully when the coin is turned.
Historical context
The plot of the coin is tied to an event or image that is important for Ukrainian memory. Such issues become small "time capsules": they preserve the emotion of the moment, a cultural sign, and recognizable symbolism for future generations. It will be an appropriate gift and a warm accent to the collection. It fits well with the collection and looks festive in the case.
