The coin honors the defense force and the people who keep the country going — in a restrained and very expressive way. The plot and design details emphasize the theme: “The Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine” is dedicated to the leading component of the security and defense forces of Ukraine. The Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine provides information for making strategic decisions in the foreign policy, economic, military-technical, scientific-technical, information, environmental and cybersecurity spheres, contributing to strengthening the national security and sovereignty of the state.
Obverse
The obverse is built as a holistic scenography, where state symbols are combined with images of the issue theme. In the center of the coin, a cross is shown, which is the main element of the new symbolism and departmental incentive awards of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine. On the obverse of the coin, a small State Emblem of Ukraine is prominently visible at the top. The contours of the map with the continents around the center symbolize the spatial scope of the intelligence activity of the service. In the center of the cross is the Sign of the Princely State of Volodymyr the Great (trident), framed by the motto of the service in Latin: OMNIA VINCIT VERITAS (“Truth Conquers All”). Along the perimeter of the circle, the first three words of the name of the agency are encoded in Morse code, which is duplicated in the lower part: FOREIGN INTELLIGENCE SERVICE OF UKRAINE. In the lower right part, the inscription UKRAINE and the year of minting 2025. In the lower left part of the coin, the sign of the Banknote and Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine, the denomination 5 and the graphic symbol of the hryvnia are indicated. The plasticity of the lines and strict inscriptions give the design a sense of composure, and the plot sounds like a sign of gratitude and strength. Reverse
The reverse is dominated by a thematic motif, supplemented by inscriptions and details that emphasize the idea of the issue. The Ukrainian Insurgent Army cipher and the code word chosen by the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine were used for coding. The text of the deciphered message will be published in the description of the coin six months after its release. The conditions, terms of the competition and its results can be found on the official website of the NBU. During the specified period, they will be able to decipher the encoded message. From the day the commemorative coin is released into circulation, the NBU will announce a competition among decryption specialists. The reverse of the coin shows a stylized trident, around which the words of one of the famous Ukrainian political figures are encrypted in numbers.
