Reverse
The reverse reveals the main image of the issue in expressive relief and a layered composition. Against a mirror background it depicts a stylized portrait of Ivan Padalka, whose image, like an invasion of alien bodies, seizes and destroys the symbol of the then-Soviet regime — the hammer and sickle. To the left of the portrait, arranged vertically, is the inscription IVAN / PADALKA, minted in relief, along with the artist’s years of life — 1894 / 1937. Historical context
The coin’s subject is tied to an event or image important to Ukrainian memory. Ivan Padalka lived and worked in the Kharkiv "Slovo" building, illustrated children’s books, painted frescoes and created engravings (including "The Construction of Derzhprom in Kharkiv," 1927); his works were shown at the 1928 Venice Biennale and at exhibitions across many European countries, and in 1937 the artist was repressed and executed.
