Reverse
The reverse is the common side of the 2 euro coins of the second type, designed by Luc Luix. Depicts a map of Europe as a single continent without internal borders. On the left is a large denomination "2" and the inscription "EURO", on the right is a map. On the outer ring are the 12 stars of the European Union. The band is with fine ribbing and a national inscription.
Historical context
On February 24, 2022, the Russian Federation launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine - the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II. Russia attacked Ukraine from the territory of Russia itself, Belarus and from temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories. The first months of the war were accompanied by the siege of Kyiv, Kharkiv, Mariupol. Countries of the world, including the European Union, imposed unprecedented sanctions against Russia. Estonia was one of the first and most active supporters of Ukraine — providing large-scale military, humanitarian and financial assistance, accepting over 60,000 Ukrainian refugees, and conducting active international diplomacy. The then Prime Minister Kaia Kallas became one of the most ardent European advocates for Ukraine. The issuance of the "Slava Ukraini!" coin on April 27, 2022, was an act of solidarity of the Estonian people. It was the first commemorative coin in the history of the euro dedicated to another country.
